Objectives:
Level A1 aims for students to achieve a basic competence in Spanish, enabling them to interact with native speakers. This level is defined as that of the basic user of the language, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
Functional contents:
It focuses on skills such as understanding short conversations about everyday matters, basic business, announcements and messages. It also includes the ability to use polite expressions, ask for and give personal information, make presentations and write simple notes.
Grammatical content:
A1 students can use simple grammatical structures, with occasional errors. They have sufficient vocabulary to deal with everyday situations and familiar topics.
Oral and written texts:
Understands the ability to process oral texts and produce them in an understandable form, stressing the importance of appropriate acoustic conditions. With regard to written texts, comprehension of essential information in short texts and the production of simple texts related to everyday life is expected.
Strategic content:
Students activate basic strategies for planning, controlling and repairing communication. They also employ strategies that promote autonomy in learning, becoming aware of cultural diversity and adopting an open attitude towards other cultures.
Socio-cultural content:
Students activate basic strategies for planning, controlling and repairing communication. They also employ strategies that promote autonomy in learning, becoming aware of cultural diversity and adopting an open attitude towards other cultures.
Objectives:
Level A2 aims to enable learners to carry out simple tasks and meet immediate needs in foreseeable situations. At the end of this level, students are expected to be able to understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to relevant areas of experience and to be able to describe basic aspects of their background and environment.
Functional contents:
Functional content is detailed, ranging from understanding sentences and vocabulary on personal topics to the ability to conduct social exchanges and write short, simple texts in the present, past and future tenses.
Grammatical content:
The learner's ability to use simple grammatical structures correctly, even when making mistakes, is emphasised. On a lexical level, vocabulary related to concrete, everyday needs is acquired.
Oral and written texts:
The ability to understand and produce oral and written texts is described, with emphasis on the comprehension of short texts and the production of messages and texts in different registers.
Strategic content:
The basic strategies that the learner can activate to plan, control and repair communication are addressed, as well as strategies that favour autonomy in learning, becoming aware of cultural diversity and adopting an open attitude towards other cultures.
Socio-cultural content:
The ability of the basic user of the language to respect differences in register, to take into account basic rules of politeness and to function effectively in social relations is emphasised. Level A2 marks the beginning of an awareness of cultural diversity and the influence of one's own cultural identity on the interpretation of other cultures. In addition, the basic user becomes familiar with cultural references and social norms associated with the Spanish language.
Objectives:
Level B1 aims to enable learners to function in a variety of situations, such as travel, social, educational and occupational environments. They are expected to acquire the ability to use the language with ease, flexibility and accuracy in everyday and less familiar contexts.
Functional contents:
Functional content is detailed, including the use of a wide but simple repertoire of vocabulary, structures and learned formulas, as well as the transfer of information, the making of value judgements, and familiarisation with Spanish and Latin American cultural references.
Grammatical content:
Three stages (B1.1, B1.2 and B1.3) are distinguished in the learner's grammatical development, from reasonably correct usage in predictable situations to correct communication in everyday situations. Emphasis is placed on extending the use of complex sentences and attention to cohesion mechanisms.
Oral and written texts:
The skills of comprehension and production of oral and written texts are described, addressing the comprehension of short or medium-length texts on everyday and general topics, as well as the production of well-organised texts appropriate to the context.
Strategic content:
The student's ability to use communication and learning strategies is highlighted, demonstrating autonomy in the planning and execution of tasks. The beginning of independence in the use of cultural strategies is mentioned.
Socio-cultural content:
At B1 level, students are expected to be aware of the differences between the Spanish language community and their mother tongue. Knowledge of cultural references and social norms associated with the language learnt is consolidated, with the ability to identify significant differences.
Objectives:
Level B2 aims to enable the student to live independently in Spanish-speaking places, develop social relations and deal efficiently in work and educational environments. The aim is for the student to use the language fluently and naturally in common and complex situations, using a variety of language and complex structures.
Functional contents:
Skills such as understanding lectures, speeches, news and films, as well as participating in fluent conversations, debates and detailed presentations on topics of general or specialised interest are emphasised.
Grammatical content:
Although minor syntactic errors persist, the B2 learner shows good grammatical control, with infrequent errors and self-correction. Knowledge of grammatical nomenclature and metalanguage is assumed.
Oral and written texts:
The skills of comprehension and production of complex oral and written texts are detailed, showing the ability to understand and produce clear and detailed messages in a variety of contexts and registers.
Strategic content:
The B2 learner is able to use communication and learning strategies independently. The beginning of autonomy in learning tasks and the use of cultural strategies to analyse differences from their perspective are emphasised.
Socio-cultural content:
At B2 level, the student is expected to be able to express him/herself clearly and politely in different registers, showing knowledge of cultural references and the ability to react according to social norms and conventions. Awareness of cultural complexity and the handling of cultural elements in general are emphasised.
Objectives:
Level C1, achieved after completing 180 hours of the course, aims to enable students to function with a high level of competence in situations which require advanced use of the language. The focus is on the acquisition of skills that enable students to interact fluently and effectively in personal, professional and academic contexts, demonstrating a deep and subtle understanding of complex texts and expressing themselves with clarity and precision.
Functional contents:
At this level, students acquire the ability to understand and produce extended and complex oral and written texts. They can participate actively in debates, present elaborate arguments, understand extended speeches and follow complex lines of argument. Cultural and intercultural competence is developed, enabling the learner to appreciate cultural nuances and adapt to different contexts.
Grammatical content:
At level C1, the learner shows an advanced command of grammar, with sporadic errors which do not significantly affect comprehension. They are expected to have a solid knowledge of grammatical nomenclature and metalanguage, facilitating the enunciation and comprehension of complex grammatical rules.
Oral and written texts:
The ability to understand difficult, conceptually and structurally complex spoken and written texts on a variety of subjects is a distinctive feature of level C1. The production of extended and detailed oral and written texts, with advanced use of linguistic resources, is an integral part of this level.
Strategic content:
The C1 learner demonstrates a high degree of autonomy in the use of communication and learning strategies. They can anticipate and prepare important points in their messages, plan learning tasks effectively and analyse cultural differences from a variety of perspectives.
Socio-cultural content:
At this level, students show a greater awareness of the cultural complexity of the societies that speak the Spanish language. They have an advanced knowledge of cultural elements, values, beliefs and attitudes, as well as the ability to adapt to different registers and styles of communication.
Objectives:
Level C2, achieved after 180 hours of the course, enables students to communicate with excellence in complex situations in the personal, public, academic and professional spheres. The aim is for the student to be able to communicate naturally, with a deep and subtle understanding, leading projects, negotiating in international environments and participating actively in academic life.
Functional contents:
Students acquire the ability to understand and produce long and complex oral and written texts. They can produce non-formal translations and summaries of non-specialised texts, demonstrating an advanced command of idiomatic and colloquial expressions.
Grammatical content:
At level C2, the learner demonstrates an advanced command of grammar and a solid linguistic awareness. They can explain grammatical phenomena, detect ungrammaticalities and handle the language in all its complexity.
Oral and written texts:
Level C2 is notable for the ability to understand all types of spoken and written language, even in noisy environments or with varied accents. The production of oral and written texts is fluent, clear and detailed, adapting to different styles and registers.
Strategic content:
The C2 learner uses metacognitive, discourse and learning strategies very effectively. He/she can infer attitudes and intentions, plan linguistic structures and use prefabricated discourse. He/she develops cultural mediator attitudes and tones down stereotypes.
Socio-cultural content:
At level C2, learners are fully aware of sociolinguistic and sociocultural implications. They master idiomatic expressions, know the relationship between terms and context, and participate effectively in diverse and less common cultural situations, managing tensions and misunderstandings.
