The student's ability to correctly use simple grammatical structures, even when making mistakes, is highlighted. On a lexical level, vocabulary related to concrete, everyday needs is acquired.

The ability to understand and produce oral and written texts is described, with emphasis on understanding short texts and producing messages and texts in different registers.

The functional contents are detailed, including the use of a broad but simple repertoire of vocabulary, learned structures and formulas, as well as the transfer of information, issuance of value judgments, and familiarization with cultural references from Spain and Latin America.

Three stages (B1.1, B1.2, and B1.3) are distinguished in the student's grammatical development, progressing from reasonably correct usage in predictable situations to correct communication in everyday situations. The increased use of complex sentences and attention to cohesive devices are noteworthy.
